LTU Entrepreneurial Collaboratory team leader Tex Criqui (L) and Mark Brucki of University Advancement (R) congratulate the winners of the contest to design a logo and tagline, Leslie Wang and Eryu Shi.

Graphic design student Leslie Wang of Taiwan and transportation design student Eryu Shi of China teamed up to win the student contest at Lawrence Technological University to design a logo and tagline for the new LTU Entrepreneurial Collaboratory.

LTU has entered an agreement with the business consultants at Technology Highway to foster a more entrepreneurial mindset at the university and help both students and faculty members bring new products to market.

Technology Highway will fulfill the role of LTU’s Engineering Entrepreneur in Residence by leveraging the talent and expertise of a team with the goal of providing support for a broader scope of entrepreneurial activity on campus.

“We sponsored a student contest to design a logo and tagline to capture the essence of the new LTU Entrepreneurial Collaboratory concept and what it brings to LTU students,” said Francis “Tex” Criqui, a mechanical engineering graduate of LTU and the team leader of this Technology Highway project.

A total of 12 students participated, with one individual and five teams each submitting one or more entries.  Technology Highway selected two semi-finalists and the final winner was then determined by the Office of University Advancement.

The winning entry captures the central theme of the Collaboratory – the cooperation between industry, students, and entrepreneurs to successfully commercialize new technology. It is represented in the handshake between the larger hand of industry and smaller student hand.

The tagline emphasizes the opportunity for students to “Get Connected” to the knowledge base and expertise provided by the full breadth of Collaboratory resources available to support the development of ideas.

The LTU Entrepreneurial Collaboratory is currently working on student projects and is ramping up to full capacity to help LTU entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful companies.
