MBA Degree Learning Goals and Objectives

Students who complete the MBA degree at Lawrence Technological University will be competent in the following goals (click on each goal for the corresponding objectives and assessment):

Communication

Objective 1: Graduates can make effective oral presentation based on relevant information and facts.
Assessment of student presentations in selected courses. Evaluated by two faculty raters (not instructor) using the oral communication rubric in STEPS.

Objective 2: Graduates can write professional quality documents.
Assessment of written documents collected from students in selected courses. Evaluated by two faculty raters (not instructor) using the written communication rubric in STEPS.

Team Work

Objective 1: Graduates can demonstrate appropriate group techniques to participate in a team task that results in effective performance.
Assessment will occur in courses with significant team work and will involve peer evaluation by team members using a rubric comprised of teamwork traits in STEPS.

Objective 2: Graduates can demonstrate effective leadership skills in a group project.
Assessment will occur in courses with significant team work and will involve peer evaluation by team members and/or instructor evaluation using a rubric comprised of leadership traits in STEPS.

Ethics

Objective 1: Graduates can recognize the ethical issues implicit in a business situation.
Objective 2: Graduates can describe and use ethical frameworks applicable to business situations.
Objective 3: Graduates can develop a variety of ethical alternatives for resolving or at least addressing, a problem in business.

Assessment of student performance on ethic related cases. Evaluated by a rater(s) in relevant courses using ethic rubrics in STEPS.

Global Awareness

Objective 1: Graduates can perform a global business situation analysis.
Assessment of student performance on a global business case in a core course by two faculty raters (not instructor) using the global awareness rubric in STEPS.

Objective 2: Graduates can formulate effective global business strategy.
Assessment of student performance on a global business case in a core course completed by two faculty raters (not instructor) using the global awareness rubric in STEPS.

Objective 3: Graduates can evaluate effective global business strategy.
Assessment of student performance on a global business case in a core course completed by two faculty raters (not instructor) using the global awareness rubric in STEPS.

Integrate Theory Across Multiple Business Disciplines

Objective 1: Graduates will identify business problems and opportunities that result from factors internal and external to the organization.
Objective 2: Graduates will apply quantitative and qualitative techniques from the different business disciplines to address problems and opportunities.

Assessment of student presentations on integration is evaluated in MBA 6073, Global Strategic Management, using an integrative case and the integration rubrics in STEPS and/or student performance on questions related to strategic integration on the ETS Major Field Test for MBA.
