International LTU Online Applicants

Welcome!  Lawrence Tech is proud to offer a dynamic distance learning option for international students.  Because of the format under which the course content is delivered for online coursework, Lawrence Tech has special admissions requirements for those international students wishing to pursue a complete online degree. Prior to applying to an LTU Online program, be sure to review all relevant curriculum information at LTU Online's website located  here.

Application Procedures
The following information must be included with your application for admission:

  • Application fee ($30 for Undergraduate, and $50 for Graduate programs)
  • Official Transcripts or WES (World Education Services) Course by Course Evaluation. See below.
  • TOEFL or other acceptable proof of English proficiency
  • Photocopy of recent photo identification (Drivers License, Passport, State ID)
  • A personal video interview may be required
  • Any other application documents required for the degree you wish to pursue.

WES Information
WES (World Education Service) is an educational credential evaluation company.  They will evaluate foreign academic records and format them to a United States educational system equivalent.  This is required of all students who have completed some form of education outside of the United States.  Please visit their website (http://www.wes.org/) for further information and a cost break down for the evaluation process. The following are the required documents for each degree level you may wish to pursue:

Bachelor level: (attended college/university courses):  submit both your high school marks/transcripts and your college or university high school marks/transcripts to WES for a course-by-course evaluation of credit and degrees.

Graduate level: (completed a four year college/university degree):  All transcripts of previously attended schools required for decisions on applications for graduate admissions must come directly from the issuing institutions, and be either original or an attested copy. All admission decisions are made by the Graduate Admission Committee of each college to which the applicant has applied. The Graduate Admission Committee and the Office of Admissions retain the right to require a course by course evaluation through the World Education Services (WES) prior to the application review.  An exception occurs for applicants to the College of Architecture and Design. The World Education Services (WES) course by course evaluation is required of all applications originating from an institution with which the College does not have a course articulation agreement

English Proficiency
TOEFL is the standard method of evaluating a student's proficiency in English.  All courses taught by Lawrence Technological University are taught in English.  It is because of this that all students are required to demonstrate proficiency in English.  The minimum requirements are as follows: TOEFL Paper-Based Test 550, TOEFL Computer-Based Test 213, and TOEFL Internet-Based Test 79.  Lawrence Tech also recognizes IELTS as an acceptable method of demonstrating English proficiency.  The minimum score on an IELTS examination is 6.0.  If a score on either test is below the minimum requirements, the student will not be allowed to take LTU Online coursework.  A passing score must be obtained before admission can be offered.

Personal Interview
If a personal interview is required, it will be conducted by LTU Online.  These will be web based interviews using video capabilities.  A student applying to an online program must be able to access an internet based video camera on a regular basis to partake in coursework.  The time and specifications of the interview will be disclosed by LTU Online if such an interview is being required.

Disclosure to International Lawrence Tech Online Students
By participating in our distance learning option through LTU Online, the student recognizes they are waiving all rights to enrolling in coursework taught within the United States.  This program is designed for students to obtain a degree while studying in his/her country.  For this reason, Lawrence Tech will be unable to issue any documents for obtaining a non-immigrant student visa.
