The Resident Assistant (RA) assigned to your community is a student who has been selected for the position because of his or her leadership skills, concern for others, ability to communicate, knowledge of University resources, and willingness to accept responsibility. RAs receive extensive training and are your primary source for information and assistance during the school year.

The RA Hiring process happens in two stages. The first stage is an individual interview with the Director of Residence Life, Residence Hall Coordinators and two Resident Assistants. The second stage is Group Process where applicants are assessed on their ability to problem solve and plan in a group setting.

Information Desk Receptionists are student employees who work in each building and provide services to students within the hall.  Desk Receptionists answer phones, assist students with needs or concerns, assist with lock outs, and serve as a resource for all students.  If you are interested in applying to work at the information desk, you can email  We often hire employees throughout the year.
If you are interested in getting more involved with housing and gaining leadership experience, consider joining the Hall Council in your building.  As a member of hall council, you will host a variety of events for the building and can have an input in making changes throughout the year in your building.  Joining Hall Council is a great way to get involved and have an impact in your building throughout the year.
