Biography

A full-time member of the Humanities faculty since 2005, Sara Lamers teaches Creative Writing, English Composition, and Modern Poetry.  In 2004 she received an MFA in Creative Writing Poetry from Purdue University.  Her collection of poetry, A City Without Trees, was published by March Street Press in 2007.  Other work has appeared or is forthcoming in literary journals such as Fugue, The MacGuffin, Main Street Rag, and Rattle. She is a member of the Academy of American Poets, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, and the Metro Detroit Writers’ Guild.  As faculty advisor of LTU’s Artists’ Guild, she works closely with students in their pursuit to enhance the presence of art on campus.  In the fall of 2008 she will also coordinate the Honors Program.  Currently, she’s at work on three projects: a second full-length poetry collection, a poetry chapbook, and a novel.
