Do you like to build things, take them apart, and put them back together again? If you like a hands-on approach, then mechanical and manufacturing engineering technology is right for you. Engineering technologists apply the principles of science, mathematics, and engineering to solve problems in a practical way.

They install and operate technical systems, devise hardware from concepts, develop and produce products, service machines and systems, manage construction
and production processes, and provide sales support for technical products and systems. As indispensable members of engineering and scientific teams, technologists take ideas, designs, and concepts and turn them into reality.

Educational Objectives

The objective is to provide students with a strong understanding of the fundamental principles and practical application of engineering technology. Students will be prepared to:

  1. Identify the problem, formulate and analyze engineering alternatives, and solve the problem individually as well as in a team environment;
  2. Assume management and leadership roles in the technology industry;
  3. Communicate effectively in a professional engineering environment; and
  4. Understand the aspects of professionalism, including the need for career development through lifelong learning.

The educational outcomes of the Department of Engineering Technology at Lawrence Technological University are to produce graduates with the ability to:
