Identify variables, coefficients, and like terms; simplify expressions involving positive,negative, and zero exponents using exponential rules; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials; divide polynomials using long division; solve linear equations with integeror rational coefficients; solve literal equations.

Method of Evaluation:
The unit test will be a pencil and paper quiz taken at your class site. The test will be administered by the instructor or by a proctor. Please see the course schedule for the exact time and date of the unit test.
Be able to recognize coefficients and terms. Simplify expressions by removing parenthesesand adding and subtracting like terms.
Be able to multiply polynomials.
Be able to divide polynomials (single term division). Reduce or separate terms and reduce.Divide polynomials using long division when dividing by more than one term.
Be able to solve first degree equations.
Be able to solve literal equations.
Be able to solve applied verbal problems.
