Bob Lutz is the author of Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business. He has held senior leadership positions at GM, Ford, Chrysler, and BMW over the course of a forty-seven-year career, culminating in his Vice Chairmanship of General Motors from 2001 to 2010. He joined the Transonic Combustion, Inc. Board of Directors on May 24, 2010 the Advisory Board of Lotus Cars in July 2010. He is also a member of the board of VIA Motors, a company engaged in the engineering and production of electric trucks.
He is a member of the board of trustees for the U.S. Marine Corps University Foundation and Vice Chairman of the board of Trustees for the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas. In addition, he and his wife Denise actively support many non-profit organizations in the Detroit area.
Lutz served as a jet-attack aviator in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1965 an attained the rank of captain. Lutz was born on February 12, 1932, in Zurich, Switzerland.
