“Interior architecture stands at the intersection of the built environment, the social and cultural framework of place, and conservation as it relates to the issues of sustainability. Interior designers enhance the health, welfare, and safety of the human environment with functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that are inventive and imaginative.”

Karen Swanson, College Professor, College of Architecture and Design

LTU’s Bachelor of Interior Architecture program provides a cross-disciplinary and collaborative educational model that builds upon a foundation of architecture and interiors in the first two years before students enter into specific interiors related coursework. In upper-level studios faculty find unique opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning and real world projects.

The program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), giving you an important advantage when entering the workforce. The Interior Architecture Student Organization (IASO) is active on campus and connects students with both of the major interior design professional organizations: the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
